Hi guys! So this is something a little bit different for me, so bear with me. I know that this type of post might not be your cup of tea, but there have been some new things in my life recently that are so freaking cool that I had to share them with you! First off are these boots. I've been slipping on the ice a lot in Anchorage, so my dad suggested (read: demanded) that I get myself some new boots before traveling to Juneau for Spring Break. I found these bad boys in Fred Meyer, and they're by Columbia. This was the kind of purchase that is more functional, but I was pleasantly surprised that they turned out to be exactly what i was looking for. The traction on the bottoms is perfect for icy sidewalks, and the insulation keeps feet warm and dry. I should mention that I'm pretty picky about shoes, especially since I have pretty flat feet and need insoles in order to walk around all day comfortably. These ones are wonderful, though, and I wore them for five days straight over my vacation and have no complaints to report. 10/10 dragonfruit. Next are the cosmetic- type items. I thought that the Rosebud Salve would just be a fad, but I was pleasantly surprised, especially as the Alaskan weather gets a bit warmer but the air is still pretty dry. I feel tres moisturized! 9.5/10 dragonfruit. In that same sort of corner, the Clinique and Crayola limited addition Chubby Sticks (in "fuzzy wuzzy" and "mauvelous") rocked my world. They don't really offer much color on the lips, but I love them and they bring me back to my childhood. Yay for more moisturizing lippy things! 9.8/10 dragonfruit. The last lip product I have used too much in March is the Tanya Burr Cosmetics matte lip in "Martha moo," which is a matte mauve- nude pink. I feel like a real adult when I wear it, and it goes with everything which is a total bonus! The only downside is that it does not last very well on my lips. I'm unsure if this is because I'm applying too much at once or something, but that's that. 9/10 dragonfruit. Here comes the skincare! The Trader Joe's Coriander Body Butter is something I thought would make me smell like I bathed in chicken rub, but I was most pleasantly surprised. Not only do I not smell like Sunday dinner, but the light, almost floral scent smells like springtime to me, which is a major plus! Of course the thick consistency does take a while to sink into the skin, which might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I love thicker lotions and always have! 11/10 dragonfruit. I have been adoring the Neutrogena Hydra Boost water gel and matching gel eye cream for night time. I love how soft and supple my skin feels after I use them together, and my under eye area pulls less as I'm putting in my contact lenses if I put on the gel the night before. 9.5/10 dragonfruit for both. I love this toothbrush. I'm not sure what else there is to say here. I bought the Violife Slim Sonic toothbrush for 18 dollars in Juneau on a whim, and it might just be the best money I have ever spent. On my last dental visit, I was told that an electric toothbrush would fix the problems I had been having in adequately cleaning my gums (since there were no other complaints- still no cavities!). I'm sure the idea had just been rattling around in my head ever since, so I bought this one on a whim. The toothbrush comes with a battery, two brush heads, and the upper casing, which makes this adorable electric toothbrush perfect for travel and home. I am so in love... 11/10 dragonfruit. My Crane Flower candle by Volupsa smells kind of like green and lemon meringue pie to me, so I just could not leave it behind, even though we technically aren't allowed to have candles in the dorms. I figure that since I can't light matches and don't have a lighter this shouldn't be much of a problem. The candle is made of coconut which also made me extremely happy! I just love candles. 10/10 dragonfruit. My Pentel EnerGel pens are less exciting, but I love pens that write smoothly and have used up both the 0.7 purple and 0.5 black already, leaving me with only the 0.7 black left. My only complaint here is that there isn't enough ink in the pens, but maybe I just write too much? 8.5/10 dragonfruit. Here comes the best part! I feel like I'm shouting but I'm just soooooo pumped! BOOKS! I went to Comicon and it was amazing! I met some authors and bought new books. Ghost in the HATBOX is about young Hatter Madigan who is training in the Milliner's Academy. The story has elements that feel a lot like Harry Potter, Divergent, and, Alice in Wonderland. Of course, the whole point is that the story is supposed to feel vaguely like Lewis Carrol's famous work. Agents of the Realm is about a group of girls who find out that they're magic in their first semester of college. This book is a graphic novel, and I honestly really want to be friends with all the girls. The story is a little bit like W.I.T.C.H. and a bit like Agents of Shield as well. These books broke the dragonfruit scale and I couldn't put them down. Lots of love, EG PS: If you try any of these things or read the books please let me know what you thought of them. In addition, if there is anything you think I might like please let me know!!!!!!
